The Veil

Samhain, Halloween, All Hallows Eve,
However you celebrate, whatever you call this time, wherever you are on either side of the veil, take time to be still for a moment and listen to the whispers of those who have gone before you. Honor them for their time and contribution when they once walked this earthly realm. Heed their messages and bid them farewell as they cross back through the veil.
Be kind to all manner of human and creature for this Holiday or Sabbath is for celebrating the years rewards of bountiful harvest and thanking Mother Earth for all she has given in this year that is now coming to a close. This is time to exalt in all the gifts we received.
This is really not an evil time or one contributed to the Devil's work. The idea of costumes and children begging for candy has it's origins in superstition and wives tales brought about my fearful Christians of ancient past (who forgot how God in Genesis created man out of the ground, out of Mother Earth) threatening visits from goblins (earth creatures) and ghosts ( God's creations)
Now, I am not in any way defending the Devil, just making a point really. It is far more convenient for us to blame an apparition for our woes than our own human failures, so while we are down on our knees lifting our hands in prayer, remember to thank God for the farmer's harvest that brought food to your table this year, and the environmentalists (aka tree huggers) who made it safe for you to eat, the chefs ( or Kitchen Witches as they are also known) who taught you how to prepare and preserve your bountiful harvest. To Earths wild creatures, who may have nibbled upon your garden only to be made plump and now adorn your table as the centerpiece of your family's feast.
We are all related, we are all connected and we are all given this day to give thanks for all we have been given by our Mother Earth and our Father God.
